Dr. Alan McGibney

Biography: Dr Alan McGibney is Group Lead for IoT Systems and User Interaction at the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology with an emphasis on research challenges surrounding the Internet of Things and Cyber Physical Systems. He was awarded his PhD in Electronic Engineering from CIT in October 2008.  His current research focus is on the application of digital technologies to address societal challenges, this includes investigating trust, reliability and robustness of ICT ecosystems that leverage IoT, cyber physical systems and communication networks. Alan leads EU funding acquisition and is currently co-coordinator of EU funded H2020 DENiM project creating a digital platform to allow industrial stakeholders better manage the energy efficiency of their manufacturing systems.
