Dr. Sachin Sharma

Biography: Dr. Sachin Sharma is currently working as a lecturer in computer engineering at TU Dublin. Prior to this, he worked as a Lecturer II/Assistant Professor (above the bar) and a programme director at the National College of Ireland (NCI). In his role as Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator, Dr Sharma recently completed an EU-funded project on inter-testbed experiments on the Internet of Things. He has performed his post-doctoral research as an Experienced Researcher at NEC Laboratories Europe, Germany. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science Engineering from Ghent University, Belgium, and a Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree in Computer Applications from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, India. During his PhD and Post-PhD experience, he has been actively involved in several European and Belgian-funded projects: SPARC, OFELIA, CityFlow, UNIFY, CleanSky and MECANO, and led to more than 40 publications in top international journals (such as IEEE Network, IEEE Communications Letters, Communications of the ACM, and Computer Communications) and peer-reviewed International conferences. In addition, Sachin’s work was demonstrated in top venues in the computer networking field such as ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE INFOCOM (three times – 2014, 2015, and 2019), and IM. Before starting the PhD, Sachin was working as a senior software engineer at Tejas Networks India Limited and was responsible for the development and maintenance of control plane software of SONET/SDH products. His current research interests include the design and evaluation of Software Defined Networks (SDN), Network Function Virtualization, Cloud Computing, machine learning, and the Internet of Things.
