Dr. Tara Coppinger

Biography:

Dr Tara Coppinger has been involved in the promotion of physical activity and healthy eating her entire working career. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Nutrition Sciences, Associate Editor at BMC Sports Science, Medicine, and Rehabilitation and Global Lead, Academic Constituency Member of the Nutrition Society’s Membership Committee.  She was also a Research Ethics Committee board member at Munster Technological University (Ireland) for ten years and is extensively involved in research supervision and external examination to PhD level.

Her diverse research expertise has contributed to internationally renowned initiatives including: Nike’s ‘Designed to Move’ physical activity agenda, the Determinants of Diet and Physical Activity Knowledge Hub (www.dedipac.eu) and she is an active member of the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, which provides the most comprehensive assessment of global variation in child and youth physical activity.

Her work to date has led to over 50 publications in the field, as well a United Nations Interagency Task Force on NCD’s Award, in recognition of her team’s outstanding contribution towards the NCD related sustainable Development Goals.

Research Interests: smart technology for physical activity and healthy eating across the lifecourse, intervention, evaluation.
