Ita Ryan

PhD Student, University College Cork (UCC)

I was born in Dublin and have lived in Brussels, Sydney and London. I now live in Kerry with my family and assorted pets. I have twenty years of experience in software development. I’ve worked as a consultant developer across multiple industries. Interesting projects have ranged from programming medical devices to insurance services to real-time stock market prices, using multiple languages and frameworks across the technology stack.
In recent years I’ve become very interested in the area of software security.

Thesis topic: My PhD is in Developer-Centered Security. It attempts to address an issue which puzzles me: how developers’ many security shortcomings can be tackled.

Primary and secondary supervisors: Klaas-Jan Stol and Utz Roedig.
