Joan Alaboson

Project Title: The role and impact of connected health technologies on psychological wellbeing and quality of life of people affected by multiple sclerosis (patients and informal caregivers)

Biography: Joan Alaboson is a doctoral researcher in the department of psychology, Maynooth university. She has a background in medicine and a master of science in public health with broad research interests in non-communicable diseases particularly mental health, social determinant of health and quality of life. Her professional engagements have been in health, research and non-governmental organizations also exploring uses and impact of digital technology n development.

During her doctorate, she will be exploring the role and impact of connected health technologies on psychological wellbeing and quality of life of people affected by multiple sclerosis. She anticipates findings that would be transformative for current technology and potentially relevant for designing connected health technology to address other neurodegenerative disorders.
