Prof. Mark Davis

Biography: Prof Mark Davis is an Assistant Head of School in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at TU Dublin where he is responsible for the areas of computer and communications engineering. He is also director of the Communications Network Research Institute at TU Dublin. He holds a number of patents in the area of resource management for WLANs and is a co-founder of the startup company OptiWi-fi which delivers next generation Wi-Fi monitoring and performance optimisation solutions.

Prof Davis is a graduate of UCD where he received his BE in 1986, MEngSc in 1989 and PhD in 1992. He was also a postdoctoral researcher at the Optronics Ireland PAT from 1992 to 1994. Previously, he was a research engineer at the PTT Dr. Neher Laboratories in the Netherlands and at BT Research Laboratories in Ipswich, UK.

 

Research Interests: Current research interests include the application of Machine Learning techniques to enhance the management of next generation wireless networks, in particular to leverage new interference mitigation mechanisms in high density WLAN deployments.
