Prof. Sean Commins

Biography: Sean Commins is a professor in the Department of Psychology. The primary research focus is on learning and memory, spatial navigation, and the neural basis underlying these cognitive processes. The lab uses a wide variety of techniques including virtual reality mazes, exploration of brain regions using electroencephalography (EEG), and the examination of memory and navigational issues in patients groups (e.g. stroke survivors, dementia). He has attracted funding from a wide variety of sources including Science Foundation of Ireland, Health Research Board of Ireland and the Irish Research Council. Sean has graduated 16 research students to date (12 PhD, 4 MSc) and has published widely in international psychology and neuroscience journals.
